Nuno Silva brings sounds from the Middle East and around the world into versatile music contexts, enriching projects with his multicultural styles and skill sets.

A self-learner from the get-go, Nuno has further advanced his career by studying with great masters of various music styles from around the world; such as Ali Bahramifard (santur), Gürsel Torun (oud) and Haleem Khatib (kanun), among others. He learned deeply by traveling across the Middle East and Central Asia regions, where he explored contrasting music cultures. After delving into many classical and folk music forms, he seamlessly adapted his learnings to more contemporary and various other music genres, with a unique take on eastern and western music interaction. Nuno has extensive recording and performing experience with many musical projects, in diverse styles such as world, medieval, folk and fusion music. He toured extensively in England, France, Germany and Spain, with renowned artists such as Efren Lopez and Meridianum among others. While Nuno’s style is heavily influenced by middle eastern classical music, his native and constant contact with western music lends him the ability to adapt his instruments' sounds to a myriad of musical settings, adding an exotic signature touch to his works. He has extensive improvisation skills and prefers working with audio or midi stems complemented with scores.

"I hired Nuno to come up with a hammered dulcimer part for my rock song and he delivered an amazing piece that really complimented the song. It was a challenge because it required Nuno to tune his dulcimer to the mode and key of my song and it fit perfectly. You can listen to his work on Cedars of Lebanon by Icons of Industry. I would recommend Nuno and would work with him again!"

"Nuno Silva was wonderful to work with. The work he did for our project was beyond our expectations - he worked with our director and designer to create unique sounds that were perfect for our production. The pieces were lovely and suited the setting of our play in ancient Persia very well. Aside from his talents as a musician, Nuno is a great collaborator. He responded generously to the directors' requests for revisions, making changes in a timely manner. His communications were always prompt and thorough, as well as professional. We had never worked in this way before, and Nuno was very patient and answered our many questions. This was much appreciated! I highly recommend Nuno Silva!"
