How Does Sync Actually Work?
The inside guide to sync for music creators ready to get serious about placement.
Part of Our Sync-Ready Workshop Series with music artist Ruby Duff

What you'll walk away with...
You will leave with a clear, practical understanding of the sync world and the confidence to start approaching your own music with placement in mind. You will know exactly:
How the sync industry is actually structured
You will understand who the key players are, from supervisors and publishers to sync libraries and agents, what each one needs, and how decisions actually get made so you are never confused about who to approach or why.
What sync-ready songs consistently have in common
Ruby breaks down the specific traits that land placements over and over again, covering the lyrical, structural, and production choices that supervisors notice immediately and why they matter.
How to hear your own catalog the way a supervisor does
You will leave with a practical framework for listening to your existing music with fresh ears and identifying which songs already have genuine placement potential.
Ruby Duff
Ruby Duff is a Yorkshire-born alt-pop artist known for her eccentric, emotionally direct songwriting and visceral live performances, drawing comparisons to Kate Bush, Lana Del Rey, and Björk. Since going independent she has landed multiple sync placements including on Love Island, earned BBC Radio 1 playlisting, and performed at SXSW Austin and The Great Escape. She has collaborated with established industry writers Rob Davis and Scott Verill, and has represented the Ivor Novellos at the IMPF. Ruby has live experience of navigating the sync world, which makes her the exact right person to learn from.

This workshop is for you if...

You have songs you believe in but no real understanding of how the sync industry works or who the right people to approach even are.

You want to start writing with sync in mind but are not sure what that actually means in practice.

You know sync can be a real income stream and a way to grow your audience, but the industry feels completely closed off from where you are standing.

Got questions?
We got answers!
Is this really free?
+Yes, completely. This workshop costs nothing to attend. Just save your seat and show up.
Where does the workshop take place?
+Inside our private community The Musiverse, which is free to join. When you register for the workshop you'll be taken straight there.
Do I need to be a Musiversal member to attend?
+Not at all. This workshop is open to every music creator, whether you're a Musiversal member or completely new to us. All are welcome.
What if I can't make it live?
+No worries, a full replay will always be available so you can watch back whenever works for you. We highly recommend joining live though. You will be able to ask questions, get real-time answers from Ruby, and walk away with more than you would watching alone.
How long is the workshop?
+This is a focused, 60 minute practical session so come ready to take notes and leave with something you can use immediately.
I'm a complete beginner. Is this for me?
+Absolutely. This session starts from the very beginning of how sync works and assumes no prior industry knowledge. Ruby explains everything clearly and without jargon. If anything, coming in fresh is an advantage as you will not have to unlearn any assumptions about how the process works.
I'm an experienced musician/creator. Will I still get value from this?
+Yes. Even experienced songwriters are often surprised by how much of the sync world operates differently from what they assumed. Ruby brings real placement experience and firsthand industry knowledge that give this session a level of honesty and specificity you will not find in generic advice. If you have been trying to break into sync without success, this is a good place to find out why.
The sync industry is not as closed off as it looks. You just need the right map.
Join us on Thursday June 4th for a free 60-minute session with Ruby Duff and leave knowing exactly how the sync world works.
