I recently had the pleasure of remote recording a 22-piece string section with Musiversal. I booked a 24-minute time slot and was pleased to see how efficiently time was used. The players, conductor, and studio team were highly focused, and we managed to get through a 3-minute film cue. I couldn't be happier about the whole process, the communication and the end results. I look forward to working with Musiversal again in the future.
Super happy to have had the opportunity to do a string session via Musiversal. Producers Rita Tulha and Alex Palmer were highly responsive and helpful and the CNSO strings and conductor were impeccable. The ability to virtually attend and provide feedback during the session was invaluable, and the turnaround for stems was lightning fast. Will look forward to working with them again!
The Musiversal team is very professional and gets you to the session making sure everything is in place to take advantage of your time. The CNSO is really great, I was worried it wouldn't be possible to pull off my piece in such a short time, but in the end they did, even though I didn't have the experience to help them as much as I could. I recommend to also get it mixed and mastered with Musiversal, as it's what makes the end result sound really professional.
Rita and Alex are professional, efficient, polite, accommodating, fair, good problem solvers... everything you could hope for and beyond. Having them taking care my various projects has been a great experience. They ensured the recording, from preparation to post production, was smooth and up to standard, everything was done right. Highly recommended!
Great string recording! The strings of the Czech National Symphonic Orchestra have one of the best sounds in the industry. Musiversal is great in making available these really amazing musicians for everyone and organizing everything impeccably.
If there was 10-star rating available instead of 5, that would be my rating. From start of the project to the finish, both Martina and Rita were just incredible, by way of professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness, and delivery of the project. We at makemyrecord.com have the highest standards for music production, and settle for nothing less than the best of the best. This was so easy to manage, and the live session with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra was just wonderful.
Frequently Asked Questions
When are the next recording dates?
+To find the upcoming session dates for each ensemble, simply visit the desired ensemble's profile page.
What’s included in the cost of my booking?
+Your purchase includes scores revision, organizing and printing, setting up the session, the studio time, all staff, musicians, conductor, files handling and overall management by our production team. The only services not included in your purchase (and available at extra cost) are arrangement, transcription, video recording and post-production (editing, mixing and mastering).
Can I customize the orchestra?
+Yes, you can add additional musicians at cost. Please submit the Request a Quote form with any personalized requests so we can help.
What files do I need to send ahead of the session?
+You’ll need to submit your scores, individual parts and audio mockup no later than 7 days before the session. Our team will do a full revision, included as part of the service.
I need help writing my scores. Can you help?
+Yes, we have professionals in our team specifically dedicated to scoring, including both arrangement and transcription. You can request a quote for scoring.
Is rehearsal time included?
+Our shared recording sessions are sight-reading sessions and we only work with musicians and orchestras that are skilled in this type of service. If your music is written and scored well, as well as being idiomatic, our orchestras will be able to play them and still allow for time to repeat certain passages.
Can I give feedback to the orchestra during the recording session?
+Your session will be held over livestream, which means you can talk to the conductor, producers and engineers between takes to provide all feedback you find necessary. It's as if you're right there in the control room of the studio!
What is the tuning of the orchestras and what sample rate do you record at?
+A=440Hz. We record at 48kHz/24bit. If you need to record on a different tuning or sample rate, just let us know in advance so everything is ready to go on the session day.
Can the orchestra record with a click track or other pre-recorded audio tracks?
+Yes, each musician has a pair of headphones to play over click tracks or pre-recorded audio tracks (tuned to A=440Hz). You can send these with your scores. We can also record with no click if that works best for your music.
What files do I receive?
+We send you the Pro Tools session folder with all the takes recorded. In addition, you’ll receive a take sheet which contains information on each take (this is filled in by our music producer during your recording). This means that you (or the audio editor you hire) has a good amount of information to deliver a great edit. The audio files are in WAV format recorded at 48KHz/24bit. If you need a different sample rate/bit depth, let us know in advance so the studio can set up according to your preferences.
What is the delivery time for files after the session?
+We aim for a 24 hour turnaround time after the recording session. Our delivery time for the session footage is within 10 business days.
Do I keep audio rights ownership of my piece? Are the recordings free for commercial audio usage? What about sync to film?
+Yes, you keep ownership of all your rights. All publishing and master rights are yours perpetually and worldwide. All Musiversal recordings are 100% buyouts. You have permission to use the recordings delivered by Musiversal for commercial purposes without paying additional fees or royalties.
Is it possible to attend the session in person? Can I conduct the orchestra recording my piece?
+We encourage composers to attend their sessions as it’s an unique and amazing experience! And we also allow experienced conductors to conduct their sessions. It's important though to be prepared with a translator depending on the location you wish to record. For both attending and conducting your sessions, we require a minimum of a 1-hour long session. Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend, so that we can plan your visit accordingly.
Do you pay the musicians fairly?
+Our orchestra musicians are paid union rates. Our affordable pricing works because of our shared session model; we book out the studios and staff for a full day, whilst customers only need to pay for the time they use.
What’s the cancelation and refund policy?
+We offer a full refund for cancelations which are requested more than 30 days before the agreed recording session date and within 14 days from the date of purchase.
