José Maria is an award-winning percussionist and producer, celebrated for his dynamic world-percussion style. Blending Latin, Afro-Caribbean and all over the World traditions, he brings color and versatility to every project. Founder of the ACAM-winning group Isla Tambor and collaborator of guitarist Fareed Haque, he’s performed across the world, from the Chicago Jazz Festival to Brazil’s Festival 2 de Julho — with a sound that is both global and deeply human.
